Abstract
In the rapidly evolving landscape of healthcare, the ability to formulate impactful and innovative research questions is a fundamental competency for early-career medical researchers. Despite the growing availability of data and information, novice investigators often encounter difficulties in identifying research topics that are both feasible and scientifically valuable, which may lead to inefficient use of time, funding, and other resources. This communication presents a practical framework for selecting research questions that are relevant, novel, and clinically meaningful. It outlines key strategies to help junior researchers assess knowledge gaps, refine research ideas, and align their work with current priorities in biomedical science. By emphasizing the importance of clear question formulation at the outset, this overview aims to support research planning, improve the quality of scientific output, and strengthen the foundation for long-term academic development. Ultimately, it serves as a concise guide for early-career researchers seeking to produce high-impact and sustainable contributions to healthcare research.
